Residencies

Tanz und Kunst Königsfelden supports dance and art in all their diversity by providing residencies that foster artistic development, exchange, and interdisciplinary projects. These opportunities are open to both emerging artists and established groups.
The residencies are in Baden, a small town in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, just 15 minutes by train from Zurich. Artists stay in our guest house, where our office is also located. The guest house has 7 bedrooms, spread over two floors, with one bathroom on each floor and a shared kitchen. In the basement, there is a washing machine and dryer. Bicycles can be provided if needed, and there are 2 parking spaces right next to the house.
Starting in 2026, the annual choreographic residency program will run in collaboration with Kurtheater Baden. All residencies and showcases will take place in the theater’s rehearsal studio, which is fully equipped to support the creative process and offers a beautiful view over Baden. This partnership provides an inspiring, professional environment and valuable opportunities for artists to develop, present, and promote their work.
The residency includes the following services:
- Duration: Two weeks
- Studio: 1 studio space at the Kurtheater Baden
- Accommodation: Guesthouse for up to 7 people (single and double rooms, 1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms)
- Financial Support: Contribution to living and travel expenses, individually arranged depending on the residency duration
- Visibility: Journal entries on the Residenzzentrum tanz+ website, newsletter features, and content shared via social media channels
The Jury
The dossiers of the applicants for the professional projects are curated and awarded by a jury of experts. They consider regional, national, and international artists and projects. For every open call, we have received over 60 applications. The jury for the 2026 residencies brings together distinguished experts from different fields of dance:
- Patrice Delay, Co-Director Ecole de Danse de Genève
- Rosemary Helliwell, Professor and deputy director of the Akademie des Tanzes at the Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts, former dancer and choreographer with the Stuttgart Ballet, jury member of the Choreographic Centre Heidelberg
- Hope Muir, Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Canada
- Filipe Portugal, Choreographer and formerly a principal dancer and solist with Ballett Zurich, Artistic director of Tanz and Kunst Königsfelden
